Setting up my quarterly goals.

Q3 was a bit of a mess. There’s no other way to describe it. I switched projects mid-quarter because I realized that I was writing the books in the wrong order. That being said, I still managed to complete a lot of goals.

So how did I do?

Quarter Three Wrap Up

  1. Write 13 blog or medium posts. Complete. I even managed to knock a couple of old post-it notes off the board from weeks where I didn’t post anything.
  2. Read 13 books. Complete
  3. Type up Roll of the Dice. Incomplete, but I did end up typing up over 70K words between the two books. With a novel in my genre, 80K is a pretty standard length, so I almost typed up a full novel.
  4. Draft Press Start. Complete, even though there are some massive changes going into me typing it up.
  5. Complete 1 30 day challenge. Incomplete. For some reason, I can’t seem to motivate myself to do any of them.
  6. Fill 3 notebooks. Incomplete. I only filled one notebook this quarter. I should manage to get more done this next quarter because I pulled out more half-finished notebooks from the stash.
  7. Finish 3 skeins of yarn. Complete. I also completed the afghan I was making and moved on to another one.
  8. Complete 2 things from my 101 Things list. Incomplete. I completely forgot to look at my book of 101 Things to pick something to complete.
  9. Complete Camp Nanowrimo (goal is to type 35K words). Complete!
  10. Research Self Publishing. Complete? I did a whole lot of research this last quarter, took a few summits, have a ton of questions that I need to answer before I hit publish on my novel.
  11. 13 YouTube videos and 13 YT Shorts. Complete. I was very consistent with getting this done.

Out of my eleven goals, I successfully completed seven of them, with some of them going above and beyond. All things considered, I’m feeling very proud of the progress I made this quarter.

I reset my kanban board and prepped my goals for quarter four. Some of my post-it notes get moved early because I’ve already started typing up Press Start. It’s always nice to have some big movement on the board early in the quarter.

Quarter Four Goals

  1. Write 13 blog or medium posts.
  2. Read 13 books.
  3. Type up Press Start.
  4. Draft Roll of the Dice.
  5. Complete 1 30 day challenge.
  6. Fill 3 notebooks.
  7. Finish tearing apart the black and white blanket to be used in the new one. I have an old single crochet blanket that I never finished so I’m repurposing the yarn into a new afghan. I’m only tearing it apart as I need to color, so it’s a bit of a work in progress.
  8. Complete 2 things from my 101 Things list. One of these can be completing NaNoWriMo.
  9. Complete Nanowrimo. By the time I get to November, I should be mostly done typing up Press Start, so I have my portal fantasy romance that I am prepping to type up for the event.
  10. Publish Game On. This has been my goal this year, so I need to complete my final steps and hit publish.
  11. 13 YouTube videos and 13 YT Shorts.
  12. Outline book four of my series.

I feel like every time I do one of these goal posts that I add more and more things to the list. But my goals keep getting bigger and bigger. I feel like I have a good system for setting and completing my goals.

I also acknowledge that not all of my goals will be done in the quarter. Things come up and plans change. So long as I’m moving the needle forward, that’s all that matters.

How are your goals coming along? Let me know in the comments!
