Dealing with a bad case of “I don’t wanna.”

I’m having a bad day. I’m off my schedule and really resistant to doing everything I should. My morning routine stretched into the afternoon. The resistance is real.

I even scrapped my original idea for this post.

But, I still went to the gym because I scheduled it. I may have only done the bare minimum, but I went even though I don’t have anything I’m training for in the near future. I need to fix that soon so I don’t keep sliding backwards.

That’s really the only productive thing I’ve done so far today, which is sad because I have a long list of things that need to be done. I first need to deal with what is blocking me.

One of the most important things I do on days like today is question what has me in a funk. Did I sleep okay? Is my bad mood because my schedule’s out of whack? Or is it general restlessness?

Once I have it figured out, I can usually fix the root cause and tomorrow will be a better day. Today, I’m overwhelmed by the amount of tasks I’ve been putting off (hooray for procrastination) and off my normal schedule (oh look, I still need to fold laundry). And I’m over-sugared from a day out with my friends yesterday.

Instead of forging ahead with my regularly scheduled projects, I’m forced to take a step back, re-evaluate everything I’ve packed into my schedule, and get caught up on the important stuff. Which does put me further behind, but my other option is to sit and binge watch one of my shows without getting anything done. Which is what I used to do when I’d hit resistance.

Tonight, I get to fold laundry, meal prep, and update my day planner. Tasks that should’ve been done on Sunday. If I can buckle down and focus, I might even get to start the dice bag order that came in yesterday.

What do you do when you hit the wall of “I don’t wanna?”

Weekly Goals

Go to the gym twice: Success!

Write 7K words: Success! And I finally worked out the scene that had me stumped.

Read 1 book: Success! I finished Burned by A. Blythe.

Sew 10 dice bags: Failure, which sucks because I just got a decent sized order that I now have to make.

Go to martial arts class: Failure, but starting in two weeks I should be putting up a lot of successes.
